Entrepreneurship Methaphor

This week, Usain Bolt just retired. The greatest sprinter of all the time.Last week, at RMS, there was an article published about how a Startup would be a Marathon, comparing to sprinting.

What´s the link here with Entrepreneurship? Well, last week, at RMS, there was an article published about how a Startup would be a Marathon comparing to sprinting.

Immediately there were people correcting, saying that you are always sprinting at a Startup, indeed, it just happens to turn out into a Marathon of sprints.

We could keep the discussion for hours, discussing metaphors…In some way, we are all right. It depends on how we perceive a sprint, a marathon, a Ultra-trail, a IronMan, or sports in general.

For example, there is a metaphor around F1  “Startups are like F1 cars on a race track. You can drive them slow, not crash and complete the race or you can drive them fast, risk crashing and Win! ”

But, one of my favorites is: “Entrepreneurship is jumping off a cliff and you assemble an airplane on the way down –  Reid Hoffman, Founder of LinkedIn

Sounds like bungee jumping without a cord.

But images always beats words:
